Layers are on the way
I currently worked on layers for BlackInk
This is the number one Uber priority feature who everyone request.
The engine is already shipped on the public version but the feature is not exposed because there’s still some work on the interface.
Today I just finished the implementation of the proprietary file .BKD ( for BlackInk Document ). Who will contains all layers datas ( who can’t be preserved in simple .png file ).
I don’t have the time for the moment to handle a real .PSD file but it’s an option for the futur.
To test the current layer functionality I did this little painting using a reference image, different brushes on different layers. Nothing special except the colors who are more vivid than ever ( compared to BlackInk prior version 0.111, ).
Here come my first picture made thanks to the new Controller Editor

Now that we have released the public Beta of BlackInk I can share with you the user interface of the Application. It’s was a lot ( and still is ) of work and effort to do. All is custom made and I hope you see the difference if you try the application.

When I don’t want to code I open BlackInk and I dot quick drawing with it. Quiet relaxing ;)

I’ve just added this brush effect into the Beta version of BlackInk.
I’m pretty happy with the result because I can achieve some nice volute with funky gradient.

I continue experimenting brush rendering for BlackInk
Here I render Ellipse Stroke instead of Filled Ellipse on the Brush path, the result is better than I though.
I also test the result with a Simple rectangle and the result is more like a real Calligraphic pen.
NB : I will do a presentation of BlackInk at the VIP2012. So don’t miss the event ;)) and see you there.
Camera capture of the first launch of BlackInk a new Drawing software developped by Bleank.
The main purpose here is to show the SplashScreen featuring little fluid effect on top of the user desktop with transparency.
How I render DirectX on your desktop ?
Quiet simple I used this excellent article on how to draw directly on the desktop with a DirectX 9 bacbuffer. It’s pretty nice. The only problem is that it doesn’t work if you used DirectX10/11 becasue the WDM doesn’t handle correctly the backbuffer with these API. The good news is it’s only on Vista because Windows 7 ( and futur Windows 8 ) use at least DirectX10 and can now handle the alpha correctly.
It’s important because without it your rendering will be overburned and will look wrong.
Little drawing I did in several minutes using a Shot from the Cleack Project.
The native resolution is 6300x3400
We will release soon video of how to do pictures like this with BlackInk a software that I develop for Bleank
